(Day 15)

30 Days of Self-Care Information and Strategies – Kristin Cowart, MSW, LCSW

Whether you have extra free time or not, making time for hobbies can help break up your daily routine (in a good way) and allow you to experience more of what life has to offer even while ‘stuck’ at home. It can also bring some unexpected fun and excitement into an otherwise typical day.

Try things you have never done before and wouldn’t normally do. From this you can discover new likes and dislikes. Even if your attempt feels like an epic failure, at the end of the day it will probably make a hilarious story to share with others. Laughter not only makes you feel good, it strengthens your immune system and protects you from the damaging effects of stress. Check out 100 things to do while stuck inside due to a pandemic.

Better yet…make it a challenge. Mark off all the items you have already done and then pick one and try it today. Next see how many new items you can mark off the list within the next week. Maybe you want to engage in this challenge as a family or maybe you want to challenge a friend. Either way set a time to “meet” in one week to compare notes and funny stories. Enjoy!
